TRI CITY SAMS
JUNE 13, 2015
The June meeting, held at King Phillips, Lake George, was called to order by President Connie at 10:45 AM with the Pledge to the Flag. Prayer was given.
Present: Bob, Carol, Chuck, Connie, Darlene, Ev, Fran, Janet and Patricia. We had a total of seven units this weekend. Doris and Gil had to leave early Friday due to an emergency at home.
The minutes of the September 2014 meeting were read and accepted by motion from Ev and Connie. The April 2015 meeting was read, changed and approved by motion of Ev and Connie. Changes were: date should have read April not August, no card was sent to Darlene, and 50/50 was won by Carol.
There was no treasurer report given since it was not available. Chuck noted back patches and 35th anniversary patches were ordered and received and passed out to many of our members already. Darlene said the treasury report needs to be available, if the treasurer is not present he needs to send the report via email. It was questioned about expenditures from the treasury, this will be decided upon by the whole membership of the club. Patricia made a motion the whole membership needs to know what is going on and not just officers to expend dollars, routine expenditures are ok, seconded by Connie, discussion followed, motion carried.
Correspondence was read by Chuck which was a card from Barry to be removed from the membership list and take name from emails. He said Diane told him they are pursuing other interests.
Connie spoke about NYS Good Sam and how they would like to decorate the stage area with landmarks from our respective areas by an 8 x 10 or larger picture. We will all check for pictures to be used at the Samboree. Connie also noted Good Sam officers have asked for help at their Good Sam table. This cannot be done by one person. She also asked what are we doing for the raffle and where are the profits going. Chuck noted we have a grill to raffle off and the profits will go to our charity. The date for the Samboree is July 9–12.
Chuck mentioned that Doris may do a back-drop. We will also need members to help with the breakfasts and decorating the booth. Maybe an Uncle Sam outfit can be borrowed and we can use the same game as we used last year.
* Chaplain / Sunshine – card was send to Jan Brooks and one to be sent to Doris.
* Sickness/Distress – no report.
* Samboree – see above.
* Historian – we have books of pictures and new ones are on the web site.
* Schedule – September 8-20 for Mass Samboree is at Normandy Farms in Mass. $154 for two nights prepaid to “Lisa” which includes 2 nights, entertainment, breakfast, ice cream social, camping world exhibits, buses available to outlets, etc. The schedule is on the web site. August is Vermont Samboree (8/8) and some may go to Maine or New Hamsphire (8/15) while they are that far East. Nickerson at Gilboa will be in August. We are booked for June 2016 for King Phillips. Elks maybe going to Turning Stone this year, more info to follow when available.
Discussion was held on the 45 days prior to a campout. Most members would like to move it back to 30 days, a vote on this will be taken at the next meeting. We haven’t seen emails of attendees going to each campout, which would make it easier to plan for covered dishes.
The Andersen’s joined as new members and another couple is interested.
50/50 – $5.50 won by Darlene.
We need to check to be sure our Good Sam membership is up-to-date, please check your renewal dates so we can up-date our master list.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Ev, seconded by Janet, motion carried. Adjourned at 12:15 PM.
“God Bless America” was sung as our closing song.
